NWC win Spoerri double-wicket again
Defending champions National Water Commission (NWC) retained the Business House cricket Hermon Spoerri double-wicket trophy last Sunday when they defeated favourites Jamaica Broilers by five runs in the final at Spring Village, St Catherine.
Water Commission's winning pair comprised Domain Wilson and Neil Wright. Both defeated national players Keith Hibbert and Andre Russell from Jamaica Broilers in the six-over a side contest.
Batting first, NWC made 41 for one (Wilson 37, Wright 4). In reply, Broilers made 37, this after losing Russell for one very early. Hibbert, however, tried desperately to get the required runs, but in the end his effort fell short.
In addition to another lien on the Hermon Spoerri Trophy, NWC picked up $10,000, while Broilers secured $7,000 for second. There were nine participating teams.
LIME, represented by national player Yannick Elliott and former Jamaica and West Indes Under-19 player, Andre McCarthy, received $5,000 for having finished third.
