Practical move to St Thomas?
The Editor, Sir:

Monday night on TVJ's Prime Time News I saw where there is a plan to relocate some residents of Spanish Town and August Town to Yallahs, St Thomas.

I wonder if the implications of this move was given much thought. I have a few questions for the decision-makers.

1. How will this affect the physical and social infrastructure of the parish? Will more school space be added? Will more medical personnel be assigned to the hospitals/health centres in the parish?

2. Why was St.Thomas chosen as the preferred destination for these persons, some of whom are coming from Spanish Town, which is located in a large parish with ample land space?

I wish that there would be a public debate on this proposed move. I would really appreciate a response from the MP, James Robertson. Please note that I am in no way xenophobic. I am just really interested in the practicality of this move.

I am, etc.,

Trevor Thompson
