According to operations officer for the St Catherine South Police, Deputy Superintendent Clive Blair, the results of a ballistics test conducted on the firearm retrieved from the body of a man identified only as 'Mario' confirmed the weapon was used in Murray's killing.
Blair said the test was conducted after the deceased engaged the police along Grange Lane in Portmore, St Catherine, on Saturday.
Firearm brandished
"The police got information that a man was lurking at a certain spot to rob a female, and the team went there. He ('Mario') brandished a firearm, pointed it at the police, and was shot. He later died in hospital," Blair said.
Mullings, 45, was shot and killed when she arrived home at Bridge View in Portmore.
After her death, her friends offered a $1-million award for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder.
