The Editor, Sir: MORE often than not, while refusing to admit the problem or deal with it in any realistic manner, the capitalist who calls himself or herself a Christian today faces a dilemma far more troublesome than any terrorist threat.
Choosing sides in cement war
The Editor, Sir: I am for free enterprise system. I don't particular care for monopolies. Because monopolies over time have caused havoc with the country's economy, I am throwing my full support behind Chris Bicknell, chief executive officer of Tank-Weld Metals, in the anti-dumping dispute with the Caribbean Cement Company.
Protect the environment
The Editor, Sir: Jamaican governments have shown little interest in environmental protection. If they did, one of the finest harbours in the world would not have been polluted and destroyed. Some of our most beautiful hinterlands would not be marred by ponds filled with waste from bauxite plants.
The more things change ...
The Editor, Sir: I am more than lost at this time. Either our country has gone mad, blind, or the cry of the common man is not reflected in the writers to the press or are not interviewed by pollsters, or even worse.
