KINGSTON, Jamaica:
A probe is now underway into the performance of principal of the St Thomas-based Morant Bay High School, Dr Dalton Shaw.

Chairman of the school board, Reverend Everald Galbraith, says the probe became necessary following complaints by teachers.

Galbraith told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre yesterday, that last month the teachers submitted a letter outlining dozens of complaints.

He says a timeline for the completion of the investigation has not yet been determined.

Our news centre has obtained a copy of the October 16 letter which contains very serious allegations.

Teachers have accused the principal of making unilateral decisions, disregarding the input of senior members of the teaching staff, and threatening Morant Bay High's status as a traditional school. 

Teachers claim that they have tried on several occasions to help the principal improve his leadership style, but are now frustrated.

They say they will no longer work with Shaw and are demanding that the school board urgently address the matter.
