The police are now maintaining a strong presence on Windward Road in the vicinity of Oliver Road in east Kingston as angry residents protest against the arrest of two men in the community this morning.

The residents from Oliver Road, St John’s Road and Harbour Road in Rockfort, already angry over the fatal shooting of three family members and friends by gunmen Wednesday evening, now claim that they are being targeted by the police.

According to the residents, early this morning members of a police party accosted a brother of one of the three murdered men and took him into custody.

“The police dem hold on pon ‘Boogie’ and ’Poppy’ and Boogie was at work when it the shooting happened,” declared one irate resident.

“We need justice. The police them nah go where the gunman them come from but them come hold pon two men who not involved,” added the resident.

An officer from the East Kingston Police Division, later told our news center that the men were held by police from outside the division.

He said the police would maintain a presence in the area to prevent the residents from remounting the blockades on Windward Road which is one of the main routes to the Norman Manley International Airport.
