Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz are returning home from the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in the USA after an early elimination from the World Cup qualifying tournament last night.

The Reggae Girlz, who faced a must-win situation against Mexico to revive their World Cup hopes, were beaten 3-1 at the RFK Stadium.

Jamaica had taken a 1-0 lead through Donna-Kay Henry in the ninth minute, but Mexico proved too strong to secure an easy win.

Sandra Stephany Mayor equalized for Mexico and Veronica Charlyn Corral scored two goals to ensure the victory.

The win handed Mexico the final semi-final berth.

The Mexicans will face the United States in the semifinals on Friday night with a Women's World Cup berth at stake.

Earlier, Costa Rica finished atop of Group B with a 6-1 whipping of Martinique.

They finished on maximum nine points, three ahead of Mexico on six, while Jamaica ended third on three points.

Costa Rica will now face Caribbean team Trinidad and Tobago in the semi-finals.

The two finalists and the winner of the match for third place earn automatic spots to the 2015 World Cup in Canada, while the fourth-place team will face Ecuador in a playoff for another spot.
