KINGSTON, Jamaica:
Kimani Ballentine, the 23 year old son of dancehall entertainer Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine, was today fined $300,000 or six months behind bars in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
Ballentine, who had pleaded guilty to involvement in lottery scamming on Friday, was represented by attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend who requested leniency on behalf of the accused.
Allegations in the case were that, last year, police personnel had gone in search of persons involved in lottery scamming when a team went into the New Harbour Village Housing Scheme in St Catherine.
The accused was reportedly held with lead sheets containing the names and addresses of persons living in the United States.
Following investigations, he was charged.
