Carol Clarke takes office as first female interim president at Mico
The appointment of professor Carol Clarke as interim president of The Mico University College takes effect today.

She takes over from Professor Claude Packer who has retired.

Professor Clarke, the vice-president of academic affairs, will act as president until a permanent replacement is identified.

She is the first woman to take the top post at the over 170-year-old institution.

Professor Packer retired after almost 50 years in education.

The change in leadership at The Mico coincides with mounting complaints by recent graduates that many degree programmes are not accredited.

Mico has admitted that about 15 of its programmes are still awaiting approval from the University Council of Jamaica.
