Expect slight drop in JPS bills this month
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says customers will see a slight decrease in their bills this month for their fuel and independent power producer (IPP) charges.

According to the JPS, the fuel and IPP charge on August bills is $25.79 per kilowatt-hour, down from $27.54 per kilowatt-hour in July.

This means that a residential customer who consistently uses 165 kilowatt-hours a month will see a four per cent drop in his bill this month moving from $6,641.88 in July to $6,363.58 in August.

The Fuel & IPP Charge on bills is determined primarily by the cost of the fuel used to generate electricity each month.

The Fuel & IPP Charge currently accounts for 60 to 70 per cent of electricity bills.
