GLASGOW, Scotland:
Jamaican superstars Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will make their first competitive appearances at the Commonwealth Games tonight after it was confirmed that the Olympic and world champions will anchor Jamaica's respective 4x100m relays teams in tonight's heats inside Hampden Park.

Both athletes had to miss the National Senior Championships - Jamaica's trial event for these games because of injuries and were added to compete in the relay events after receiving medical exemptions from the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association.

Bolt, who anchored Jamaica's sprint relay teams to world records at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu (37.04) and the 2012 London Olympic Games (36.84) will close the show for Jamaica with the men's 4x100m relay heats set to face the starter at 9:35 p.m. (3:35 p.m. Jamaica time).

Kimmari Roach will run the lead off leg before passing to Julian Forte with 100m bronze medal winner Nickel Ashmeade responsible for handing over to Bolt.

Fraser-Pryce, who like Bolt won gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m at last year's World Championships, will take the Jamaicans to the finish line with 100m bronze and silver medallists Kerron Stewart and Veronica Campbell-Brown running the first two legs.

Elaine Thompson will run the third leg with the women's 4x100m heats set to start at 9:10 p.m. (3:10 p.m.).

400m bronze medal winner Christine Day will lead off Jamaica's women's 4x400m relay team in their heat with Anastasia LeRoy, 400m hurdles bronze medallist Janieve Russell and Shericka Williams next in line.

The event is scheduled to start at 6:40 p.m. (12:40 p.m.).

For the men's 4x400m relay team, Chumaine Fitten, Edino Steele, Hugh Grant Jr and Omar Johnson will be asked to carry the stick around with their heats set to start at 7:10 p.m. (1:10 p.m.).
