Road traffic fatalities hit 99 since the start of the year
Four deaths over the Easter holiday have pushed the number of traffic fatalities to 99 since the start of the year.

This is 11 more than the tally recorded for the similar period last year and the highest for the January to March quarter in three years.

Pedestrians, motorcyclists and private motor vehicle drivers account for 68 of the 99 road fatalities.

According to the National Road Safety Council, the Easter deaths, which included a double fatality, took place in St. Catherine and St. Andrew.

Last year, 307 persons were killed in traffic fatalities.
