The Gleaner has been reliably informed that noted track coach Glen Mills and Olympian Donald Quarrie have settled their differences, after meeting with mediators this afternoon. 

It is understood that the two called a truce after a frank discourse, involving JAAA executive member Dennis Gordon and current fourth vice president Dr Winston Dawes.

The meeting was reportedly requested by Quarrie.

The pair was involved in a fiery exchange last week, after the 1976 Montreal Olympics 200m champion and 100m silver medalist, accused Mills of forcing incumbent Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) president Dr Warren Blake to chop him from his slate of candidates.

The election of JAAA officials is slated for November 29 at the Annual General Meeting.

Mills, regarded globally as the best sprint coach with the likes of Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake under his care, had dismissed Quarrie's claims.

Mills had also raised concern about Quarrie's technical leadership of Jamaica's team to the recent London Olympic Games.

This in light of the Jermaine Gonzales debacle, which saw the 400m national record holder pulling up in the heat of the men's 4x400m after an apparent injury.

Gonzales had earlier struggled during the heats of the individual 400m and told reporters in the mixed zone that he was injured.
