Arscott comes under more fire
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillors in the Portmore Municipality are hitting back at Local Government Minister Noel Arscott over his decision to only release a portion of the $14.2 million for drainage works.

Arscott said $3 million has been allocated for an interim mosquito eradication programme, while a review of a comprehensive programme is conducted.

But the upset JLP Councillors say the minister should release all the money.

Councillor for the Westchester Division Shane Dalling says the funds are needed to address serious drain problems in Portmore.

Noting that the $14.2 million was already programmed, Dalling said the local government minister needs to clarify the source of this money for the mosquito eradication programme.

The councillor for the Westchester Division and his JLP colleagues are maintaining that the minister’s action is politically motivated.
