Jamaica's national junior representative, Justin Burrowes, powered his way to an outright victory in the Caribbean Junior Golf Open in Trinidad and Tobago last week.

Thirteen-year-old Burrowes, competing in the boys' 11-13 category, won his age group ahead of compatriot Jack Stein who was third. Burrowes had scores of 73, 80 and 87 to earn a comfortable four-shot victory. Stein's scores were 87, 91 and 79

Justin's father, Wayne Burrowes, said he was delighted with his son's overall performance in Trinidad and Tobago.

"We are elated and will support Justin all the way, as he wants to make golf a professional career," Wayne Burrowes said.

Justin who was winning a trophy in his first overseas championship, will next represent Jamaica in the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship in Puerto Rico from July 27-August 1.

In the girls' 14-15 category, Kei Harris finished third with 87, 91 and 79. Her final score (79) was the low gross of the week in the girls' 14-15 division. Harris was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for the tournament.

The Trinidad and Tobago competition attracted juniors from various Caribbean islands including the host country, St Lucia, Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
