Tap retired public servants
The Editor, Sir:

There are certain valuable public servants who, in spite of their advanced age, need to be called back to active public duty.

I am thinking of many retired school principals such as Roy Ebanks and Merlene Bingham of Ardenne High School who would do a great job assisting with programme development in the Ministry of Education.

Valuable asset

I also think of Thelma Jackson, formerly of the University Hospital, who would be a valuable asset to the Ministry of Health. What about Tony Patel at the Jamaica Information Service and Blossom O'Meally Nelson at agencies such as the Registrar General's Department.

The country is in a bad way. Let's get the seniors involved and go back to the basic tenets of excellence - service, discipline, integrity and excellence.

I am, etc.,
