President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, told a joint sitting of the Upper and Lower Houses of the Jamaican Parliament on Wednesday that his country had achieved economic stability.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding lauded President Kikwete for the "ambitious programme of transformation you have undertaken: economic liberalisation, painful but necessary structural and fiscal reforms, tax-reform diversification of your economy, privatisation and support for the private sector. You have done well."
Additionally, the prime minister pointed to low inflation, strong investment flows, robust international reserves and an average annual growth rate of seven per cent in the last decade.
Tanzania's performance is in stark contrast to Jamaica, which is now facing a negative GDP growth this financial year.
