Offering NUFF Hope to Jamaicans
With the economic crisis in the country forcing many Jamaicans out of jobs and staring at a calamitous future, one organisation has thrown several of them a lifeline of opportunity and NUFF Hope.

The non-profit organisation NUFF Hope Limited, an offshoot of Swallowfield Chapel in Kingston, had, for the past couple of months been organising free seminars at which experts in business have been engaging people in the areas of entrepreneurship. Among the training they received was in the area of developing business plans.

In fact, they were even helped to create those plans and they were guided on how to source funding for their businesses. The participants included many of these displaced persons from a cross section of communities and the Jamaica National Building Society among the professional organisations brought in to train them.

Restoration mission

Chairperson of the NUFF Hope board, Evadnie Sterling, said the organisation's objective was to encourage and facilitate entrepreneurship in order to improve the social and economic conditions of persons in Swallowfield and other communities in Jamaica.

Tomorrow, NUFF Hope takes its mission of restoration to another level. It is giving the people from the Swallowfield the opportunity to showcase and trade their products at a bazaar they call Nuff Tings Christmas Grande Market.

This is to be held at 5 Swallowfield road starting at 9 a.m.

"We recognise that many persons are experiencing grave economic difficulties and see this as an opportunity to assist them in enhancing their well-being, while at the same time being placed in a position to give back to their community in some way," Sterling said.

She said more than 50 people would set up booths with items they produced themselves. She called for support of the bazaar, "as we aim to make our communities better".
