The Crown is expected to close its case today at the trial of the two men charged with the murder of elderly Manchester couple Richard and Julia Lyn.
The prosecution has so far called 48 witnesses at the trial which began on October 5 before Senior Puisne Judge Marva McIntosh and the jury.
Detective Inspector George Williams testified yesterday in the Home Circuit Court that furniture and electrical appliances which were later identified as belonging to the Lyns were found at the home of one of the accused men. He said when the items were identified in the presence of the accused men, they nodded in the affirmative and also said "yes" simultaneously.
The jurors also viewed video footage from an automated banking machine of two men using a bank card belonging to the deceased Richard Lyn on the early morning of December 10, 2006.
The Crown is alleging that the men in the ABM are the accused, 28-year-old Lennox Swaby, farmer and taxi driver of Hopeton district, Manchester and 26-year-old Calvin Powell, of New Green, Manchester.
Strangled
Prosecutors Lisa Palmer Hamilton and Claudette Thompson have led evi-dence that the Lyns were strangled during a robbery at their home in Mandeville between December 9 and 10, 2006.
Defence lawyers Dr Randolph Williams and Robert Armstrong will cross-examine Detective Inspector Williams when the trial resumes today.
