Journalists to discuss code of practice
With members of the public demanding more accountability from the media, the Press Association of Jamaica is inviting media and communication practitioners to a series of fora to discuss the draft revised code of practice before its introduction.

The first forum will be held next Tuesday at the Wexford Hotel in Montego Bay, St James, commencing at 5 p.m. Other fora will be held as follows:

Wednesday, November 18, 5 p.m. at Sandcastles, Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Thursday, November 19, 8 a.m. at Knutsford Court Hotel, New Kingston.

Thursday, November 26, 7 p.m. at Golf View Hotel, Mandeville, Manchester.

Discussions at the fora will address issues including:

Should journalists be members of political parties or the security forces?

How do newsrooms guard against the undue influence of special interests?

How should the media cover victims of crime, as well as children?

Media practitioners are invited to participate in these fora and make their input to the final document. Please register atpressassociationjamaica@gmail.com or phone 63 1-6390.
