Twenty-five-year-old Damion 'Boy Boy' Harwood was by far the man of the match in the August Town-St Georges Sports Club Digicel Premier League game at the UWI, Bowl on Sunday.
Harwood's two goals on either side of the half secured a 2-0 victory for his St Georges side.
The first goal came on the stroke of half-time when Harwood latched on to a through ball from Dwayne Holmes, which he expertly dispatched into the back of the net, beating the keeper all ends up.
His brace was completed in the 77th minute following some brilliant work down the left flank by Leon Irving, who after dismissing an August Town player supplied a pass of pinpoint accuracy, which Harwood controlled before caressing the ball past the diving keeper.
"It was a brilliant pass from my teammate and I just put it under control and like I do in training, just slot it away," a jubilant Harwood shared.
This was Harwood's third goal in two games, after sitting out the first two rounds due to injury.
Before conceding the first goal in the 44th minute, August Town were holding their own and matched St Georges in ball possession and shots taken.
Totally different game
The second half saw a totally different game with the August Town players looking tired and things got worst when their defender, Raymond Williamson, was shown a red card in the 66th minute after committing his second bookable offence.
St Georges seized on the opportunity to control the game from thenceforth.
"In the first half August Town came for three points, they were very direct and the pace was very fast, all we had to do was match there intensity and wear them down and it paid off," St Georges' coach, Braxton Hyre, informed.
A disconsolate Calvert Fitzgerald, coach of August Town, said: "My team did not play well, we were flat. We have some things that we need to work on as we have not been able to score a goal in any of our games so far."
