Glenmuir win big

Former champions Glenmuir High School served notice that they will be hard to beat this season when they spanked Tacius Golding 6-0 in their first-round Zone I daCosta Cup fixture.

Manchester High also fired six unanswered goals in another of yesterday's high-scoring contests.

Clarendon College had a narrow 2-1 win over Denbigh, while Anchovy won by a similar margin over Irwin High.

Bellefield blanked Belair 3-0 and Lennon beat Vere 3-1 in other matches.

Competition continues

Meanwhile, the competition continues this afternoon with champions St James High, which started their campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win against Spot Valley on Saturday, among the teams gunning to make it two wins from two starts when they play away to Muschett High in their Zone A fixture at Wakefield in Trelawny.

Among the other first-round winners who will be on show are former champions Cornwall College, William Knibb, Marcus Garvey High, Bog Walk, Ewarton, Islington, St Mary Technical, Port Antonio, St Thomas Technical and Seaforth.

Zone A: Muschett vs St James at Wakwfield, Spot Valley vs Herbert Morrison at Spot Valley, Green Pond vs Maldon at Cornwall Courts

Zone D: Cedric Titus vs Ocho Rios at Clark's Town, A' Gallimore vs York Castle at Wilson Shop, Marcus Garvey vs William Knibb at Drax Hall

Zone J: Tacky vs Ewarton at Tacky, Glengoffe vs Bog Walk at Glengoffe, McGrath vs Dinthill at McGrath

Zone K: Annotto Bay vs St Mary Tech at Westmoreland Oval, Oracabessa vs Brimmervale at Jack's River, St Mary High vs Iona at Highgate Community Centre
