It is with great sadness that I learned of Trevor Rhone's death.
Trevor Rhone has contributed so brilliantly to the culture of this country. He managed to capture the essence and flavour of Jamaica in all of his work.
I remember in the 1980s, when we were trying hard to build a film industry, that a script came on my desk at the Film Commission that was a Jamaican story about a young lady from the country who goes to Canada to work and falls in love with her boss. It lacked the little touches that would bring it to real life. So I introduced Trevor to the producer and suggested that they let him work with them on it. They did, and the result was startling!
My condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
I am, etc.,
