'Jokey-jokey' Fae was wrong choice
The Editor, Sir:

Fae Ellington is not the right person to handle the important job of being master of ceremonies for national events like Usain Bolt's press conference. As I watched her on the television and saw how she was performing at the press conference after Bolt returned to Jamaica, I was shocked at the low level of MC skills and unprofessional approach exhibited.

She seemed woefully uninformed, was very much lacking in authority, was trite, and saying too many meaningless and simplistic things that had nothing at all to do with her duties as the master of ceremonies. She was playing to the gallery and spent too much time being 'jokey-jokey".

What reason would Ms Ellington have to be admonishing Bolt publicly that he has to take care of his parents? Why does Ms Ellington think that he would welcome her telling him about how to care for his parents, as if he doesn't already do that? Jamaica deserves better and decision makers should not subject Jamaicans to this again. It was disrespectful.

I am, etc.,

RAYMOND BECKFORD
