Premature honours for Bolt?
The Editor, Sir:

The decision by the prime minister to honour Usain Bolt with an OJ is premature. Honour of such magnitude should come at the end of one's career. Bolt is a fine young man and deserves praise from all of us. However, he is human and can make mistakes. What if he were to fall from grace and in the process disgraces the country, how would we reconcile that?

Let us all pray for him and hope that nothing happens. I was just thinking about Marion Jones who had never tested positive for drugs for years and then it suddenly happened.

Please advise Bolt that he must be aware of his surroundings, especially when he is in other countries, because unscrupulous people will try to destroy him.

I am, etc.,
