Carefully spreading the love

An Evening of Love and Care will be staged on Friday, October 2, at Curphey Place.

Organised by sportscaster Cliff Williams as a fund-raiser for his ailing daughter, the event will feature music by the Fifty-50 Band and Merritone Disco.

Williams' daughter, Tashna-Gail, 11, suffered a stroke a year ago and is in need of emergency brain surgery. The stroke left her right arm and leg partially paralysed and her memory impaired. MRI scans revealed that Tashna-Gail has malformed blood vessels embedded deep in her brain.

"My family now lives with the ever-present spectre that another episode of bleeding is possible and likely to prove fatal," Williams said.

With the quality entertainment Merritone and the Fifty-50 Band has provided over the years, Williams is hoping for a good turnout to supplement the estimated US$50,000 ($4,475,000) medical expense. Tashna-Gail is scheduled to undergo operation at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Centre in the USA.

Tashna-Gail was initially being treated by the neurosurgery team at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
