Standing in the centre of the majority of Santos' attacks is influential midfielder, the lanky five feet 10 inches tall Latoya Davis.

Her ball possession, work rate and skills have made her a threat to most opposing defence line-ups and she makes her teammates better.

Davis has scored only once this season in the Sherwin Williams Women's Premier League, but has been involved with at least eight of her team's goals. Her teammate, and striker, Sadee' Lewis has scored six times combined in league and knock-out play, and Davis has assisted in almost all of her goals.

Davis, 20, a former St Andrew Technical striker, is eyeing a national call. She told The Gleaner that to don the colours of her country will be a dream come true and she will grasp it with open arms.

"I have thought about playing for Jamaica, and I wonder how it has taken so long," Davis said in a recent interview.

Davis admitted that her temperament has caused her not to reach further in the sport, however, she is working on that.

Her coach, long-standing stalwartat Santos, Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis, said that Davis' skills are of a high quality, but feels that she needs to work on her discipline if she wants to progress further.

"I have told him (Dennis), that I'm trying to behave myself for the benefit of the team, because I love football, and I want to make the national team in the near future," said a confident Davis.

"Fans and my teammates said that I need to start scoring more goals, and stop 'set' (assist on) goals. I am working on that and my fans can watch for bigger and better things from me from now on," she added.

On Wednesday, Davis was instrumental in her team's 1-0 upset win over five-time defending champions Harbour View in the quarter-finals of the Colourscape knock-out at Santos' home turf. The result helped to boost the confidence of Davis, a former Maverley-Hughenden player and her teammates. They now know that they can compete well against the big four - Harbour View, Waterhouse, Barbican and Portmore Strikers.
