Jamaican man charged with murder of American woman
The Clarendon police have charged the boyfriend of an American citizen whose body was found last month with the throat slashed.

Thirty-year-old Maurice Palmer, who is a labourer of Patrick Street, Old Harbour in St Catherine was charged yesterday.

He is scheduled to appear in the Lionel Town Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

He was one of two suspects taken into custody following the discovery the body of the retired teacher, Glenda Campbell, on January 9, a day after the 56-year-old was reported missing.

Her body was found floating close to the shore of the Welcome Beach in Salt River.

The police say a post mortem was conducted on Campbell’s body on Monday, which indicated that she died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

According to police report, the 56 year old New Jersey woman came to Jamaica on vacation in early January.

This story has been amended. It previously stated that Glenda Campbell came to Jamaica in December 2014, however, she visited the island in January 2015.
