KINGSTON, Jamaica:
A defence lawyer in the murder case involving three policemen from Clarendon charged with a 2012 murder is to write to the Director of Public Prosecutions for certain disclosures to be made in the case.
Attorney-at-law, Carolyn Reid-Cameron, told a court of her decision when the matter was called up yesterday.
Constables Whitney Hutchinson, Shannon-Ceon Allen and Sergeant Mario Taylor are charged with the murder of Adolphus Reader from Clarendon in 2012.
Reid-Cameron, who represents Allen and Taylor, told the court that disclosure is to be made in relation to a statement from a deputy superintendent.
However, the lawyer representing the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) said the statement was not necessary.
Reid-Cameron then indicated to the court that she would still be writing the Director of Public Prosecution in order to get the statement.
The case was adjourned until January 14.
The Crown is alleging that on February 28, 2012, two of the cops entered a room where 25-year-old Reader also called 'Big Eye' was fatally shot during a confrontation.
Witnesses said the police had a conversation with the man before shooting him.
INDECOM brought the charges against the three cops earlier this year as part of an investigation into claims that teams of police are set up to kill alleged gangsters.
