Prosecutors have withdrawn ammunition charges against former public servant, George Knight, and Clava Mantock Junior, who were arrested in July in a major fraud probe.

The two are among seven men who were arrested and jointly charged with forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to deceive.

Knight is the head of Cenitech Engineering Solutions, the company which is at the centre of the alleged fraud.

The other accused are Clava Mantock Senior, Melville Edwards, Police Inspector Andrew Bobb, Ferris Stewart and Lambert Dawkins.

Along with the forgery charges, Knight and Mantock Junior were charged with aiding and abetting illegal possession of ammunition.

Those charges were laid after investigators who were probing their alleged involvement in the multimillion-dollar fraud scheme, revealed that 33 rounds of ammunition were found at premises owned by Knight.

However, Knight’s attorney, Peter Champagnie, had written to the Director of Public Prosecutions explaining that his client was a licensed firearm holder and still frequents the premises where rounds of ammunition were found.

He said the allegation did not amount to an offence.

Yesterday, prosecutors made the application to withdraw the charges in the Gun Court and the presiding judge, Paulette Williams dismissed the charges.

Mantock Junior was represented by Pierre Rogers.

The men are scheduled to return to court in February in relation to the fraud allegations.
