Edmond Campbell, Senior Staff Reporter

KINGSTON, Jamaica:
Thieves ‎last night broke into the Parliament building on Duke Street in Kingston.

It's understood that they entered the office of the Senate president as well as that of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and stole computers and a flat screen television.

The break-in comes a few months after thieves attempted to gain entry to the Parliament canteen.

At that time, they broke the glass to the canteen but were not able to get in.

This morning, Opposition senator Nigel Clarke said this occurrence has prompted the parliamentary Opposition to renew its call for the security at parliament to be strengthened.

He made the comments before debating the Transfer Tax amendment Act.
