CAC Games: Walters wins squash medal for Jamaica
Jamaica's Lewis Walters won a bronze in the squash competition at the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico to push the country’s tally to two medals.

Walters secured the country’s second medal last night in the men’s singles.

The 26-year-old Walters moved into medal contention by securing a three-set victory against teenager Ernesto Abrego of El Salvador in the quarter-finals.

He won 11-7, 11-5, 11-6.

That victory earned Walters a semi-final clash against 26-year-old Mexican Orlando Salazar.

However, the Jamaican lost three sets to one.

The Mexican won 11-4, 11-8, 4-11, 11-8.

Craig Brown won Jamaica’s first medal in Veracruz by winning silver in the men’s under 87 kilos Taekwondo event on November 17.

Brown was beaten 18-2 by Cuban Rafael Alba in the gold medal match.

A contingent of 135 athletes is representing Jamaica in 14 disciplines at the games.
