Include community groups on NHT board, says Tivoli convenor
Convenor of the Tivoli Committee, Lloyd D’Aguilar, says the Prime Minister should use the Outameni saga to include representatives from community groups and non-profit organisations on the Board of the National Housing Trust (NHT).

D’Aguilar says these entities are much more experienced in the needs of low-income Jamaicans in light of their work in communities most affected by the housing crisis.

According to D’Aguilar, trade unionists board members have failed to represent working class NHT contributors.

D’Aguilar says it is unaccepted for these members to have supported a deal to spend millions of dollars to purchase the 10 acre tourism attraction while hundreds of lower income NHT contributors still do not own a house.

D’Agular says he is further disappointed that the trade unionists who sit on the NHT board continue to defend the purchase.

He says the state agency needs board members that will best represent the interest of working class Jamaicans.
