Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will today reveal the fate of the board of the National Housing Trust (NHT).

The Prime Minister has been under intense pressure to dismiss the board over its decision to purchase the Outameni attraction in Trelawny.

If she sticks with the current members, Simpson Miller will have to appoint at least one more director to ensure a quorum and restore the board’s legal authority.

Last Friday, the NHT board was plunged into crisis following the resignation of Brenda Cuthbert, reducing membership to eight and one less than the quorum required to operate.

Cuthbert joined trade unionists Kavan Gayle and Helene Davis White who earlier resigned.

The Office of the Prime Minister says Mrs Simpson Miller will make an announcement after today's Cabinet meeting.

There has been sustained public debate as to whether the NHT breached its mandate since The Gleaner first reported in October that the NHT spent 180 million dollars to buy the Orange Grove property on which the Outameni attraction is located.

The NHT acquired the property in December 2012.

The Opposition, church, civil society groups along with the private sector leaders have called for the Prime Minister to take action, some demanding the sacking of the Easton Douglas-led board.

But the board has insisted that it did nothing legally or morally wrong.

The Auditor General Pamela Monroe-Ellis has sent her team of auditors to conduct a probe into the purchase of the Orange Grove property.

The Office of the Contractor General has also been asked to carry out its own probe.
