The Ministry of Health has indicated that it is aiming to train 1,000 health care workers as part of the Ebola emergency response.

The acting director of the ministry's emergency response, Dr Sonia Copeland, says the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) will be assisting with infrastructural work on isolation areas.

Copeland adds that simulation exercises will also take place at the JDF head offices at Up Park Camp.

The acting director of emergency says discussions are underway with the Jamaica Fire Brigade for the movement of suspected Ebola victims.

She also states that sensitisation of healthcare and other emergency personnel is ongoing.

Copeland was speaking yesterday at a media sensitisation forum on Ebola held at the Pan American Health Organisation offices at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
