The Police say they have deployed a team comprising personnel from the Chaplaincy Branch, Community Safety and Security Branch and the Victim Support Unit to the Kingston 2 community where eight persons were shot on Wednesday night.
Three of the victims died.
The police say the team is providing counselling and other support to residents, especially to those who are grieving.
The police reported that on Wednesday patrons were at a bar along St. John's Road in the community after 7 o'clock Wednesday evening when a group of gunmen pounced on them and opened fire indiscriminately.
They say four men have since been taken into custody in connection with the incident and are to be questioned by investigators.
Meanwhile, the police say they have intensified their presence and operations in the Kingston 2 area.
They say during an operation yesterday a team seized a firearm and seven rounds of ammunition.
The police say one man was taken into custody in connection with the find.
