An sixty-one year old man is lucky to be alive after the truck he was driving overturned in a precipice off the Mocho Road in Clarendon this afternoon.

It is reported that three people were aboard the six-wheel truck when it overturned while the driver was attempting to maneuver a corner.

They were taken out and rushed to the hospital leaving the driver pinned in the mangle truck.

However, the driver was pinned down for 45 minutes before he could be freed.

Assistant Superintendent in charge of the Clarendon Fire Department, Orette Barnswell, says a call was received approximately 1:30 pm and a unit from the May Pen station responded.

He said fire personnel had to work cautiously to remove the man from the truck as there was a gas leak.

The crash caused a power outage as the truck brought down power lines.
