Alleged corrupt Portmore cops get bail
Two Portmore based policemen who are charged with bribery were granted bail in the sum of $250,000 when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

They are Sergeant Orel Aryes and Constable Oscar Beckford.

The successful bail application was made by attorney-at-law Oswest Senior Smith when the matter came up for mention before Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks.

Smith told the court that his clients were serving members of the police force who will honour their bail conditions.

Bail was subsequently offered to Beckford who is to report to the Mandeville and the Bridge Port police stations.

Both Aryes and Beckford are to reappear in court on January 13 next year in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

The Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) says they allegedly solicited a sum of money from a serving member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force in order to dispose of a case file which implicated him.

A report was made to MOCA and following investigations, both men were arrested during a sting operation in which a sum of money was collected.
