Schools to make up hours lost because of Chik-V
The Education Ministry says individual schools are to make up any instructional hours lost because of the current outbreak of the chikungunya virus.

The ministry says schools in eastern parishes continue to report a high level of absenteeism among students and teachers.

But it says the absences are not enough to force the closure of schools.

Director of communication at the ministry, Byron Buckley, says while some teachers and students have fallen ill, others who were previously ill have now returned to school.
