Gary Spaulding, Senior Gleaner Writer

KINGSTON, Jamaica:
The People's National Party (PNP) has extended appreciation for the kind coverage granted by the local media to the family and members of the political family of former Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke.

"Let me say on behalf of the People's National Party, our sincere thanks for the kind comments of sympathy and condolences which came from the media fraternity after the sudden passing of our beloved departed brother and Comrade Roger Clarke," declared Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, Robert Pickersgill.

He noted that some of the comments came as a collective remark from media houses and other came as private notes, telephone calls, emails, tweets and comments in the various condolence books.

"The supplements and documentaries and other similar products published in the print and electronic media, to include social media, assist us even now through the grieving process," Pickersgill added.

Pickersgill said members of the Clarke family were also buoyed by the outpouring of love and support for Clarke, which were documented and broadcasted. "None of us is likely ever to forget it," said Pickersgill. "And we are grateful to each of you for doing so."

Clarke, the former Agriculture Minister, died in the United States.
