Come Sunday August 24, adults will pay $20 more to travel on JUTC buses.
This will bring the fare to $120, up from $100.
Students will pay $30 up from $20.
The elderly will pay $60.
Transport Minister Omar Davies announced the increases this morning in a press conference.
According to Davies, five years ago the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) recommended an increase of $131 for adults and $40 for concessionary fares.
However, he deemed this too high.
In the meantime, come September 1 concessionary passengers will be forced to pay the adult fare if they do not acquire the JUTC’s SMARTER cards.
