Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is urging Jamaicans to rise above the challenges and emulate the resilient attitude of leaders who fought for the freedom of the country.
In her Emancipation Day message, Simpson Miller said the country has come a far way and citizens should appreciate the sacrifices made by their ancestors.
The prime minister also urged persons to be persistent and not give in easily to the odds they encounter on a daily basis.
