KINGSTON, Jamaica:
Former Opposition Senator Arthur Williams has revealed that two days after the bruising Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) leadership election last November, Andrew Holness made it clear that those persons who did not support him would have to make way for those who did.

The claim by Williams is included in court documents filed in the case he has brought against Holness challenging his removal from the Senate.

Holness defeated former JLP deputy leader, Audley Shaw, in a contest that created a division within the party.

According to an affidavit filed by Williams, Holness made the comment after he informed him that he would not resign from the Senate because he had deliberately stayed out of the leadership race.

Williams says Holness responded by saying those who did not support him have to make way for those who did while others will have to get back to work in their constituencies.

Williams claims, in the affidavit, that he informed Holness that he and then Senator Dr. Christopher Tufton would not be resigning and this prompted a reminder from the JLP leader that he had a document he could use to remove them from the Senate.

He says Holness stated that was the route Tufton wanted him to take so he could appear dictatorial.

Holness had used signed, undated letters to remove Williams and Tufton from the Senate.
