Gov't urges compliance of employment agencies
JIS:
The Labour and Social Security Ministry is urging overseas employment agencies to become compliant with the regulations governing the sector.

Director General, Sydney Bartley, has told the operators that non-compliance could result in loss of benefits to the agencies.

He says if there is no compliance, the Labour Ministry might not be able to lobby effectively on their behalf for any incentives, tax relief or special provisions as necessary.

According to Bartley, the Government must be convinced that the agencies are serious business operators and are making a serious contribution to the economy.

Bartley added that the service the agencies offer is important, but noted that it is not always known because of the negativity that surrounds the sector.

He argued that this stereotyping will not go away if overseas employment agencies refuse to adhere to simple regulations like the submission of quarterly reports.
