Douglas Reid enters race for basketball association presidency
Former assistant secretary general of the Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA) Douglas Reid is set to run for the post of president at the annual general meeting on Sunday at Christar Villas in St Andrew.

Reid joins Dr Mark Broomfield and current executive member, Paulton Gordon, in the race for the JaBA presidency.

Reid, who has been involved in basketball in the western region for over 30 years, expressed confidence in securing the required number of votes to become the next JaBA head.

Reid, a former president of the Western Basketball Association, which is one of the most powerful conferences is the island, noted that insufficient attention given to the regional body influenced his decision to challenge for the top post.

Current JaBA president, Ajani Williams, will not be seeking re-election.

He has served for the past two terms.
