Fifteen-hour flight delay, then cancellation ... Fly Jamaica passengers furious in Kingston
Scores of passengers booked to depart Kingston on a New York-bound Fly Jamaica plane from 5 o’clock this morning are now furious in the departure lounge of the Norman Manley International Airport.

"It is just pure chaos," one woman told the Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre a short while ago.

"Babies bawling, sick in wheelchair ... it is just chaos!”

The passenger said after checking in at 4 o’clock this morning – one hour ahead of the scheduled departure – she was told that the flight was delayed until 6 am because of an issue with the plane.

However, she said soon after, passengers were given a meal voucher and told to go home and return at noon for a 2 o’clock departure.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said sometime before 2 o’clock passengers were told by airline officials that the problem had still not been rectified, and so the flight would be leaving later.

However, she said around 9 o’clock this evening, passengers were told that the flight would not depart Kingston tonight, instead it would leave at 5 am tomorrow.

The delays have left the more than 100 passenger angry.

It is reported that some have tried to be accommodated on other airlines without success.

Officials of Fly Jamaica were not reached for a comment.
