Fifty years of ineptitude
THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE PROBLEMS of this country stem from the fact that for 50 years successive governments have shown a certain degree of ineptitude. This has caused the development of this country to be stymied. Successive governments have simply failed to do what is right or have shown a degree of reluctance to do what is right so that life in this country is better.

We continue to ignore the calls for stricter penalties for those high income earners who dodge their tax payments. We continue to avoid passing laws to rid this country of corrupt people. We continue to avoid passing laws to make government officials much more accountable for taxpayers' hard-earned money. We continue to accept mediocre service from our state-owned agencies.

Most of all, sir, we continue to ignore the fact that the country is overpopulated. The resources of this country are simply not enough to satisfy the needs of so many people. There has to be a limit on the number of children people are having, especially people who are extremely poor. It is having a telling effect on government coffers. When are we going to rid this country of inept politicians? I really hope to live so that I can see that day. May God help us.
