Model of cooperation - Pulse supports Mini Miss Trench Town contest
Morgan
Creative industry pioneer, Pulse Investments Ltd will partner with the Agency for Inner-City Renewal (AIR) in a series of events for the Trench Town Festival, which started on Wednesday and ends on Sunday.

The festival, which was started 12 years ago to commemorate the birth of Bob Marley, will include a Nyabinghi Night, a Kids' Fun Day along with a Mini Miss Trench Town Competition, an information fair, a church service and a public lecture.

Founding director of AIR Dr Henley Morgan indicated that his organisation has mobilised students from several schools in the area and sees "the [Mini Miss Trench Town] competition as a vehicle to inculcate proper values, attitudes and a sense of pride in the women of the future".

Pulse has committed its resources to the effort by providing grooming and training for the girls selected to be part of the pageant. The contestants have been hosted at the Pulse Fashion and Beauty Centre where they have had the benefit of sessions with former international model and Pulse's Fashion Director Romae Gordon. Gordon will also be a judge of the pageant today.

ABUZZ WITH ANTICIPATION

Both entities are pleased with the association. Pulse CEO, Kingsley Cooper, noted that the company is keen to support the efforts of the AIR and applauded Dr Morgan's work in the Trench Town community. "The community is abuzz with anticipation at what, at other times and under ordinary circumstances, would have been a minor event. After just one visit to Pulse, the girls are walking on 'cloud nine' so to speak," Morgan said. "It is amazing the power of a brand to transform; in the case of Pulse, not just the individual, but the community."

After completing their first grooming session, the 17 contestants received gift packets including Pulse Models' diaries and other branded merchandise featuring the agency's top modelling stars.

The pageant will be held at the Trench Town Multi-purpose Community Centre.
