Trade union leaders are spot on
THE EDITOR, Sir:

I cannot agree more with the trade union leaders who are opposed to proposed increased taxes for workers who already pay income tax. It is a shame that the Government has to look to these overburdened people for more revenue.

I support Senator Lambert Brown that we should adopt the American tax-collection system. It is unfair in the sight of God and man for persons to be living lavish lifestyles and yet not paying taxes.

How can your wall around your house value more than the house, yet you are not paying tax? Yet you import yacht engines and say it is for farming.

Some of the very people who are talking about an International Monetary Fund deal need to be honest and start paying their fair share of taxes so that the Government doesn't have to be turning to the already burdened workers. Employers who collect people's money but don't pay to the tax man must be tracked down and put in prison.
