United States actor Malik Yoba, who starred in the Jamaica bobsled team-inspired 1993 movie, Cool Runnings, put in an appearance at Rebel Salute 2013 last Friday night, coming back to the land of reggae just for the show.

"I'm here for Rebel Salute, I just came for this. I did the first two with Rebel, so it's good to be coming back for (the show's) 20 years," Yoba said, as he spoke briefly with The Gleaner backstage.

Yoba spent a few minutes on stage after being introduced by MC Jenny Jenny, bringing greetings and even trying his hand at DJing a couple lines.

Yoba, who starred in New York Undercover, currently appears in the sci-fi drama series Alphas, where he plays the role of a former FBI special agent.

In addition to his several television roles, Yoba has also appeared in more than 20 movies, including Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married Too.

He was scheduled to leave Jamaica on Monday.
